[Paul Stevens] I have been struck, recently, by what I think is a significant shift observable in the public media. I don't mean that suddenly all newspaper, television and internet outlets are suddenly printing anti-global warming pieces. Earth Hour Food and Drink In Chicago, brought to you by fossil fuels
Chef Mark Payne’s three-course menu at the Ritz includes seared [locally grown?] scallops with spring peas, and the Four Seasons’ Kevin Hickey has a $55 four-course menu of risotto with lamb bacon and veal strip steak accompanied by grilled ramps. (All to be enjoyed by candlelight, of course.)...

Drink in the dark at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Base Bar, where a DJ, [disposable] glowsticks, $5 cocktails and organic wine make for an Earth Hour party that’ll go till 11pm.
...
MarketHouse, which recently scored some high marks from Eat Out editor Heather Shouse, will be making rain vodka cocktails and serving a menu prepared with no electricity or heat. (Don’t worry, it’s not raw-foodist hour: Chef de cuisine Tom Rice is preparing chilled poached shrimp, beef carpaccio and more.) 10% of proceeds go to the World Wildlife Fund.
Twitter / ArcticSurvey: Still not ideal swimming weather
