Labor enthusiastically embraced the rhetoric of climate change and offered a potential way of both keeping our global commitments and ameliorating the problem. Now it's obvious that the proposed legislation isn't the best scheme economically or environmentally. If the Government is serious it will sit down and find something better that will pass the Senate. Otherwise, it might just keep building up its political capital. Rudd's actions will soon give us a clue as to which way forward he will take.
