This frames the debate as though it were itself between a government dragging its feet, and pure objectivity.
Now, I’m of the opinion that most “green” personal choices are already completely about moral vanity — their scale makes them meaningless while endowing the environmentalist with a great sense of self-worth. So, the real effect of Earth Day, I think, is for this smugness to get a significant one-day boost. Both studies concluded that it was even more important to cut carbon emissions in the future as the reduction in pollution will mean global warming is speeding up.That last sentence seems odd, since the mainstream media has been claiming that carbon dioxide was pollution for years now.
