Most people have no idea — or only the foggiest understanding — of what “cap and trade” means?

Most people, if they have any idea, think its involves “someone or something else — not me.”

But it could impose a new $2 trillion tax on all Americans!

“How can this be and I don’t know anything about it?” many people may say.

So here’s fair warning.

In the name of “fighting global warming” — which many knowledgeable people do not believe exists as a result of manmade activities — President Barack Obama and the Democrat majority in Congress are proposing to impose what would amount to a new “cap and trade” tax.

Arguments over climate change
SIR, – I found Derek Lord’s column on climate change (April 10) very refreshing. It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only non-believer outside the largely-ignored band of sceptics that do exist in the scientific world.
...
I’m all for energy efficiency and believe there are great advances to be made in renewable energies. However, I’m still to be convinced that this will have any effect on climate change.
