WHILE early snow falls were welcome news at Thredo at the weekend the sudden cold snap has been singled out as the most likely culprit behind a spate of mysterious bird deaths at Parliament House in Canberra.

But there are those who would like to see British Columbians pay more attention to the bigger question of climate change, an issue they feel is being lost in the carbon tax rhetoric.

Kevin Washbrook, of Voters Taking Action on Climate Change, is one.

"In the general public, I don't have a strong sense that [climate change] is a concern right now," he said in an interview. "I think the bigger picture is getting lost in this sort of partisan scrabbling over short term advantage."

Meanwhile, the B.C. Conservative Party is rejecting both the carbon tax and cap and trade.

The 30th Session of the IPCC held in April of 2009 in Antalya, Turkey, hosted a scoping meeting of experts to define the outline of the 5th Assessment Report (AR5) scheduled to be released in mid-July 2009. Perhaps before then they will have a chance to review the research by some of the aforementioned 700 scientists.

There’s no question that it’s hard to give up a perfectly good excuse to save the planet, but there’s still no substitute for the truth.
