Former VP Gore backs US House global warming bill
WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Vice President Al Gore has endorsed a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that would curb the gases blamed for global warming.
Gore, who awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his work on global warming, was to testify before a House panel Friday morning. In testimony prepared for delivery at the hearing, Gore says the legislation simultaneously would solve the problems of climate, economy and national security.

Former Vice President Al Gore pushed Congress to find the “moral courage” to create a cap-and-trade system, calling a sweeping climate change proposal “one of the most important pieces of legislation ever introduced in the Congress.”

“I believe this legislation has the moral significance equivalent to that of the civil rights legislation of the 1960s and the Marshall Plan of the late 1940s,” he said, according to written testimony he plans to deliver to the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Friday morning.
