Scott County Board joins opposition to power line
Officials say the proposed lines run right through land that is a prime area for development.

The utilities have said they're proud to have avoided private property as much as possible. They're quick to add that, since they're proposing single-masted structures, as opposed to mini-Eiffel Towers with multiple legs. Farmers can plow right up to the base and lose very little land for crops. [What about safety?]

• Utah House of Representatives voted 52-19 in favor of a non-binding resolution urges the Governor to withdraw Utah from the Western Climate Initiative.

• The Arizona Legislature, directs the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to not participate in the Western Climate Initiative.

• In New Mexico, the legislature is done for the year. Legislation to authorize a greenhouse gas emissions cap was not even broached.

• Montana’s legislature is still in session, but all lawmakers in Helena have the stomach for is to tackle is preparatory measures.

• The Oregon and Washington State Legislatures picked apart the climate agenda submitted by their respective Governors. Nothing passed.
