Managing the often rapid jump or drop in wind output is another obstacle for other power plants on the grid since electricity is consumed in real-time and can't be stored in large amounts, NERC said.

If electric demand is high and wind generation falls off, other power plants must increase output quickly to balance the system to prevent blackouts or other disruption.

One of the many eye-catching slogans at the Albuquerque “tea party” on Wednesday was “Global warming is a socialist scam.” Versions of it were on several hand-held signs. Those signs were still in mind this morning when the Pew Research Center released the results of a recent analysis (”Faith in Global Warming“) of views on global warming among people with different religious affiliations.

Bottom line: Those who do not claim an affiliation with a particular church are most likely to say that global warming is caused by human actions.

Oddly enough (and worryingly), Lucas is also a member of the European Parliament. This involves much flying between Britain, Brussels and Strasbourg. It also means Lucas is killing people.
