NCCU To Host Climate [Hoax] Corps Internship - Durham County - MyNC.com
North Carolina Central University is the only educational institution in the nation serving as a host site for the Environmental Defense Fund's 2009 Climate Corps Summer Intern Program.

Twenty-six students from top tier business schools across the nation will spend their summer break working with companies across the country to cut energy use, save money and enhance operational efficiency. Two of the participating students attend universities in Durham: Sahil Thaker from Duke and David Fox from NCCU.

The Environmental Defense Fund's (EDF) innovative 10-week Climate Corps program trains MBA students in energy-efficient strategies and embeds them with leading corporations to analyze the most effective ways to consume less energy. Saving energy means less carbon dioxide pollution, the leading cause of global warming.
New Orleans Nagin: Perking Up The Lawn
The real purpose of the trip was for Nagin to deliver the keynote speech at a climate change conference in Sydney, Australia. The organizers must have been desperate for “experts” to invite Nagin to address the group. I guess since Katrina hit New Orleans, Nagin is now somehow more qualified than meteorologists and climatologists to speak on the topic. How Bizarre!
Alan Schram: [More climate realism on the Huffington Post!]
The other argument for energy independence, the ecological desire to "save the planet", is equally dubious. Someone has to take the unpopular stand and say it: We had record cold temperatures in many American cities last winter, and many well-respected scientists doubt the thesis behind global warming. Even if global warming is happening, there is no clear evidence mankind is the cause. And even if mankind was causing the globe's temperatures to rise, it isn't clear that would be calamitous for us and what's more, the solutions offered by the proponents of global warming may be worse than the problem itself.

Take cap and trade for example. In the midst of a deep recession, cap and trade would substantially raise the cost of energy and shut down U.S. factories, shipping jobs to China. The only beneficiaries will be government bureaucrats who, in running the oversight and enforcement of the new environmental rules, will see their power soar and authority expand at the expense of ordinary Americans.
