...India has already opted out of the agreement, saying they won't be bound by commitments to reductions if it threatens economic growth. For India, this is absolutely the correct policy. To tell a farmer that he and his family must endure grinding poverty so that their children will live on a cooler planet is not just political suicide--it pretty much fits the legal definition of inciting to riot. But just because opting out makes sense for India does not mean that opting out makes sense for us.
