Broadcaster Jonathan Dimbleby has been granted permission to erect a 50-foot high wind turbine at his home in Devon.

Mr Dimbleby, 64, a former president of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), appears to have had a change of heart about wind turbines having been 'cautious about them originally'.

The former presenter of Any Questions? and On The Record said he has not received any objections to the proposed turbine and that he believes unless action is taken now the threat of global warming will be catastrophic.

The government has been accused of failing to develop a green economy for the 21st Century by its own outgoing adviser on sustainable development.

Sir Jonathon Porritt, who left his role at the weekend, criticised ministers on the environment and social justice, and for failing to protect UK prosperity.
