Some naive people might have been convinced that the U.S. House voted to wreck the American economy by endorsing cap and trade because it was the only way to save the world. But even many environmentalists had given up on the bill approved last Friday. But the legislation had something far more important for legislators and special interests alike. It was a pork-fest that wouldn’t quit.
If the Krugmans of this world haven’t suckered you completely into believing their humbug, you could google “global cooling” and see what’s there. If, after you have read some of the information about the Earth’s millions of years of climate change, you still want to be a True Believer and worship at the Krugman/eco-zealot altar, that’s fine. [Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Roanoke], who voted against the legislation, said it raises taxes while eliminating jobs. Input costs for farmers, he said, will jump as a result.
“Agriculture is an energy intensive industry,” Goodlatte said, “and this legislation will make the cost of energy even higher for everyone.”
