THE NUMBERS DON'T LIE...SUMMER IS MISSING! by Brian Wilkes
The high temperature in Indianapolis Wednesday was only 68 degrees - not only 18 degrees below normal but a record low - high temperature. The previous record was 70 degrees set back in 1996 (updated by the NWS Indy late Wednesday). This is the third time this month that a record low / max temperature record has fallen. July 2009 has yet to produce a 90 degree high - the last time that occurred was July 2004.

Brisk temperatures in the Lafayette area, and throughout Indiana, are setting record lows throughout July.

"This is an atypical summer," said Ken Scheeringa, Indiana's associate state climatologist. "It has been 5 or 6 degrees below normal in July. The average high is 85 and low is 65 -- and we are well below that."

In response to Wednesday's record low, Lafayette's Tropicanoe Cove, Castaway Bay and Vinton Pool closed. The West Lafayette Municipal Pool stayed open.
July Sets Cool Records - Louisville News Story - WLKY Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- It has been a summer for the record books and not because of the heat.

Louisville has set new records for cool high temperatures.
...
A record cool high was set on July 18, 1918 at 75 degrees. That record was broken Saturday, as the high temperature only reached 70.

Sunday, a record low temperature of 56 degrees was set at the Louisville International Airport, four degrees lower than the old record of 58 set in 1947.
...
If the temperature doesn’t rise to 90 degrees before the end of the month, it will be the first time in Louisville history that the 90 degree mark hasn’t been reached in July.
