NYC Foodprint Alliance: Eating Local and Fighting Climate Change | TakePart Social Action Network™
A trailblazing resolution was introduced today to New York’s City Council aimed at improving access to local, just, and sustainably produced food in New York and decreasing the the city’s ecological “foodprint.” If you’re in NYC tomorrow, head down to City Hall at 11am and join Anna Lappé, Just Food, Council member Bill de Blasio, Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer, and other members of the NYC Foodprint Alliance to show your support of this amazing initiative. The resolution would incorporate the issue of sustainable food into the City’s PlaNYC, which aims to reduce the City’s greenhouse gas emissions 30% by 2030 (it seems they left on the enormous impact of food).
