Obama Names New of National Parks Director at Backcountry.com: The Goat
Biologist and 30-year national parks veteran Jon Jarvis says his priorities include climate change, the role of the parks in education and youth, and bringing new groups to the parks. The new National Park Director comes with a little controversy since he’s opposed to letting a shellfish farm in California renew their park-land lease. He’s trying to evict them landlord-style, but the farm employs 30 people and California’s Senator Dianne Feinstein is trying to get the farm on more of a month-to-month style lease that could go on indefinitely. I don’t know how you could argue with this guy; he looks like a cross between Smokey the Bear and Wilford Brimley.
Mariel Hemingway Confirmed To Present At ARE Day
American Renewable Energy (ARE) Day is an annual event held in Aspen “to promote effective solutions to the urgent challenges of global warming through renewable energy.” This year promises a star-studded dais, if, of course, you consider some of the hardest hitters and biggest names in environmentalism to be “stars”. In my galaxy Amory Lovins, Lester B. Brown, David Orr and Chief Arvol Looking Horse are definitely stars around which to orbit, but this year it looks like author, model, actress, and holistic “lifestyle expert” Mariel Hemingway will be the most recognizable celebrity there.
