Canadian voters conflicted on carbon
Only a few years ago, Canadians cited the environment as their top priority. Yet when the Liberals proposed a carbon tax that would put a price on pollution, they were pounded by rival politicians, savaged by the press and punished by voters.

Now, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff – credited with first persuading his predecessor, Stéphane Dion, to embrace the carbon tax – has deemed it politically toxic. And he is loathe to spell out any new environmental plan.

GE Energy also said this week that its most advanced wind turbine, the 2.5xl, is now available with a Cold Weather Extreme (CWE) package. The addition of the CWE package ensures that the 2.5xl wind turbine can operate in temperatures as low as -30°C, and in survival mode without operation, at temperatures as low as -40°C.
