NEW YORK (AP) - Former Vice President Al Gore told attendees Wednesday at the Clinton Global Initiative to reach out to U.S. senators and urge them to pass climate change legislation [so it's a political issue?], saying it was the "crucial step" in solving the climate crisis.

It's part of a rightward drift [so it IS a political issue?] by Republicans in the early stages of running for Minnesota's highest office.
