Climate change folks on par with ‘rain makers’
Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s people traveled about this great nation claiming that they could make it rain. The people paid for their services, but for the most part never saw any results. They were called charlatans. They took advantage of people's fears and ignorance.

About the only difference I see today is those same people have the backing of many of our elected officials who can make laws, spend our money and cripple our industrial base, all in the name of some theory that has yet to be proven.
Tim Ball: Historic Review Shows Current Climate Change is Normal
Current global temperatures are not the highest ever and the rate of change is historically equaled. More important the previous warm periods cannot be due to human CO2 as the IPCC claims for current temperatures. Global warming is not a concern, but that is already partially conceded by the shift to climate change. We’re told that climate changes as if it is a revelation. A review of history shows how much climate changes and that current conditions are not unique. The real revelation is the degree to which people have been misled on the issue. As Heraclites said, ‘There is nothing permanent except change.”
[But at least they didn't get kidney stones]: Deadly combo of bad luck and climate change may have killed Neanderthals
A series of ice ages ate away the forest habitats where Neanderthals and their predecessors, Homo heidelbergensis, made a living sneaking up on big game.

As their numbers declined, those who remained took refuge in warmer parts of Europe, nearer the Mediterranean.

But, a final drop in temperatures that began around 50,000 years ago made even this meager living unsustainable.
Zealots throw another dagger at our oil industry - The Globe and Mail
While other Western developed countries run unsustainable trade deficits, Canada has achieved current account surpluses (until recently). Oil and gas exports are the principal reason. The industry creates jobs from coast to coast. If we don't produce our oil and gas resources, countries that refuse to be bound by Kyoto targets will. But apparently the zealots don't believe those reasons should save the industry from sacrifice at the great altar of Kyoto.
