Perhaps Gordon Brown needs to familiarize himself with actual science rather than political hackery. Actual science gets conducted in the open, and needs repeatable conclusions and full data sets to be considered “settled.” It welcomes scrutiny and testing; actual science doesn’t hide from scrutiny, or conspire to block it, and actual scientists don’t plot ways to ruin the careers of those who question the models or results.Roger Pielke Jr.'s Blog: Guest Post by Hans Von Storch: The Sustainability of Climate Science
Brown has put himself clearly in the “Shut up, he explained” school, which isn’t science at all. It’s what leaders of a cult say when the brainwashing starts to weaken.
The present essay calls for a sustainable practice of climate science. Such a sustainability requires that science is not degenerating to a sort of politics and policymaking; instead science is supposed to provide coldly, impassionately, knowledge about the options of policymaking. For doing so, it needs first of all to do "good science", which needs openness, reproducibility, falsification, publication. And the acceptance that science the pursuit of satisfying curiosity is a part of our western culture.Heliogenic Climate Change: Red herring from the Telegraph
Scientists agree that there has been warming (climate change) since the temperature minimum of the Little Ice Age, in fact about half a degree per century. The dispute is over the cause of the warming. Yet the Telegraph spins this as if sceptics dispute the warming itself:Borrow to the hilt to stop global warming, says Lord Stern - Telegraph
Governments should increase borrowing to tackle global warming despite the dire state of public balance sheets, according to Lord Stern of Brentford, the former chief economist of the World Bank. The Migrant Mind: Does global warming predict early snows?
Now, let's all sit in a circle, hold hands, and chant the Orwellian slogan, "Warming means cooling"
