New climate pact will be ‘firmer’ against defaulters: Pachauri
With many rich nations failing to meet Kyoto Protocol goals, top climate expert R K Pachauri on Wednesday said a “stronger and firmer” regime envisaging punitive action against the defaulters awaits in a new climate treaty, whenever it is framed.

Kyoto Protocol did not work as it does not have provisions for stringent measures against the defaulters.

“But there is clearly strong expression (among global community) for punitive measures of sort against those countries that don’t meet their commitments,” Pachauri said noting that the rich nations were not serious in taking any legally binding commitments.

[Pachauri] defends the Kyoto Protocol - designed to reduce human influence on the global climate - as being better than nothing, and says the panel's job is to provide compelling evidence for the need for countries to make new commitments to fight global warming.

"Compelling evidence"

That eplains all the hype of the IPCC over the past decade or so.

He'll get to see it on TV from his jail cell. Pachauri is criminal and is NO longer welcome.

The UN is NO LONGER welcome. Like we REALLY need to PAY these people to figure out what already paid scientists can tell us... The UN is useless and is full of criminals in every one of their programs. All it is: Social Engineering platform.

Pachauri... you'll be nothing in the future.

Pachauri a climate scientist? WRONG He is a railway engineer! So like Lord Stern knows nothing about climate science. Please describe these people correctly and perhaps some truth will emerge from thew climate lies.

This thing will not go away while there is big money to be had. Like the EU 'Constitution" vote in Ireland they will keep trying until they get the answer they want. Don't think it's all done and dusted because it's not.

Below is an article on auto vs. ship pollution - if correct, who does it point the finger at? Funny how the bankers all operate under ucc maritime law...
