It’s time for James “We’re turning the planet into Venus” Hansen to go–Now! Until recently he has been mostly an embarrassment, traipsing the globe–on the tax-payers’ dime–promoting his Venusian vision of Thermageddon caused by CO2.

While that should be enough for his removal as NASA GISS director, so far it has not sufficed. Now, however, he has taken action that–in a sane administration–would compel immediate termination, if not hospitalization: The advocacy of eco-terrorism.

Crist's Web site produced ads titled "Rubio Flip Flop" and "Rubio Cap and Trade." The Rubio campaign called it a "slicing and dicing" of Rubio's words, and the full interview shows that Rubio felt a federal cap-and-trade law was inevitable and that the state should be ready to implement it, subject to legislative approval.

Carbon Offsets Come Under Fire

Mark Shapiro, of Berkeley, Calif.’s Center for Investigative Reporting, has written a scathing report on the carbon offset industry in the February edition of Harper’s. Policymakers crafting U.S. climate legislation, which might include provisions for offset projects, should heed the warning, but the criticism shouldn’t be confused with calls to kill a nationwide cap-and-trade program.
