C3: The "Gold" Standard Has Become The "Crap" Standard: More Evidence That UN & IPCC Should Not Be Involved With Climate Science
The revelations of IPCC scientific incompetence just keep on coming. How any rational, objective person could still maintain that the UN/IPCC effort could be rehabilitated is beyond comprehension. There is no doubt now that the UN/IPCC global warming product (propaganda?) is the antithesis of solid and accurate science.Pajamas Media » Climategate: ‘The Science is Settled,’ They Told Copernicus
The tactics of Al Gore and the AGW crowd ("No need to check the evidence! There's a consensus!") mirror the pseudo-arguments used to defend the Earth-centric model in 1543.Kim Strassel: Carbon Caps Through the Backdoor - WSJ.com
Thus does an unaccountable political body, advised by unaccountable green groups, fundamentally rewrite the rules of business. Many state governors and politicians remain in the dark about this back door power grab. If they want a say in how their states enforce climate policy on the business community, they might want to intervene soon.World Climate Report » European Storms

What's interesting to speculate on is why Schneider is even exchanging emails with Ehrlich on this, apart from the fact that they are both working at Stanford, which received $100 million for environmental studies from... Exxon. Why would anyone want Ehrlich on their team?MUST SEE: George Monbiot and James Delingpole on climate change, BBC Daily Politics Show | Climate Realists

Scientists at Columbia's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory have found evidence of hydrothermal vents on the seafloor near Antarctica, formerly a blank spot on the map for researchers wanting to learn more about seafloor formation and the bizarre life forms drawn to these extreme environments.
Hydrothermal vents spew volcanically heated seawater [can they warm as much Antarctic seawater as my northern-hemisphere iPod charger?] from the planet's underwater mountain ranges -- the vast mid-ocean ridge system, where lava erupts and new crust forms. Chemicals dissolved in those vents influence ocean chemistry and sustain a complex web of organisms, much as sunlight does on land. In recent decades more than 220 vents have been discovered worldwide, but so far no one has looked for them in the rough and frigid waters off Antarctica.
