The Reference Frame: Methane and warming
Recall, once again, that the gas only survives in the atmosphere for 10 years or so. Even if the Siberian Arctic methane emissions increased by a factor of 100, for unpredictable reasons, it would still not be a problem. Everyone who puts his face into a worried shape because of this "issue" is an irrational sourball.

And besides, a $50,000 back-page ad in the New York Times isn’t going to reach people inclined towards skepticism on AGW anyway. Do these scientists realize who reads the Gray Lady? The only people impressed by an ad in the NYT will be the Times’ business office.

Extreme cold and blizzards have long been exploited by warmists. Thirteen years ago the cover of the Jan. 22 Newsweek read, "Blizzards, floods & hurricanes: Blame global warming." The New York Times carried a front-page article headlined "Blame global warming for the blizzard," and a nationally syndicated article by environmentalist Jessica Matthews ran under titles such as "Brrr, global warming brings our blizzard."

With so many astonishing claims resting on science of such dubious quality, the only rational response is healthy skepticism. And this is now more or less the case across a broad and increasing spectrum of the public.
