Phil Jones hid data because it was "standard practice" | Australian Climate Madness
The journals never asked to see it? Well of course, they wouldn't would they? The peer-review process for alarmist climate science is non-existent. As long as a paper supports the consensus, it will be waived through without any scrutiny - and now we have the evidence to prove it: journals never asked to see the original data.

So the next time anyone says the peer-review process ensures that only decent research gets published, you know how to respond.
Corn Ethanol: Still a Boondoggle | Mother Jones
Bottom line: corn ethanol is no greener than gasoline. In fact, it's almost certainly less green, and at the very least, there's no urgent need for the U.S. government to pay billions of dollars to subsidize its production. Too bad Iowa is the first state on the primary calendar every four years, isn't it?  [Via Coyote Blog]
UPDATE 1-Winter storms to distort US jobless figures-Summers | Reuters
WASHINGTON, March 1 (Reuters) - White House economic adviser Larry Summers said on Monday winter blizzards were likely to distort U.S. February jobless figures, which are due to be released on Friday.

Construction activity was hit particularly hard by the storms, but many restaurants and stores also had to close, putting the brakes on hiring plans and temporarily throwing some employees out of work.
On the trail of the lonesome pine - Telegraph
One hammer blow followed another, culminating in the crushing accusation from Lord Lawson that for the period before 1421 the scientists “relied on one single pine tree” to establish how hot the world was, “which was more than it [the tree] could bear”.

No wonder Professor Phil Jones, director of climatic research at UAE, looked so white and sad when he came to give evidence. It must be horrible, after building up one’s reputation over decades, to find oneself accused of basing it all on a single pine tree. We feared this would be more than Prof Jones could bear.
...
We fear this whole affair will not end well, and that as far as UEA is concerned, the climate has already become distinctly uncomfortable.
