Senator Graham calls cap and trade climate plan dead | Green Business | Reuters
"The cap and trade bills in the House and Senate are dead. The concept of cap and trade is going to be replaced," Graham added. But he did not specify whether cap and trade might be used to control emissions in just one sector, such as utility companies, instead of earlier efforts for an economy-wide cap and trade.

Senator John Kerry told reporters he hoped a compromise climate control bill could be put together this month, although many meetings were still being held. Graham told reporters it will be "weeks and weeks" before a bill is ready.

The statement appears to contradict sections of the original submission, which suggests the emails showed scientists had cherry-picked data to support conclusions and that some key reconstructions of past temperature cannot be relied upon.
[I dare you to spend three minutes of your life watching this inane video]: Green celebs bring sexy back to Senate politics | Grist
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is taking a page out of David Roberts’ book by railing on the U.S. Senate to pass the clean energy jobs bill in this celebri-full video. It formally launches a new video advocacy campaign called This is Our Moment, which is banking on the pure pop-sexiness of stars like Chace Crawford to push the populace toward climate politickin’. They even get Chace to gossip to girls and guys about the senators saying “there’s still time to sit on our ass and wait.” At the same time, Jason Bateman scolds senators for the arrested development of the bill: “If our senators stand up (use a cane if you need to, sir).”
The latest musical trend is annoying the Senate into climate action | Grist
When I say, “Senate political deadlock,” what’s the first thing you think of? If it’s a nap, then maybe your iPod isn’t turned up loud enough. The latest musical trend, outside of auto-tuning, seems to be musicians pushing the United States Senate to do something with—might we suggest passing?—climate change legislation.

To get it started in here, The Black Eyed Peas has partnered with green organizations Green for All, Rethink, and League of Conservation Voters on The E.N.D. World Tour (E.N.D. as in The Energy Never Dies. Unlike the Senate, where The Energy To Do Something Usually Dies). These groups will educate Peas concert-goers on the need for a clean energy bill while helping fans recycle plastic bottles, which will eventually be transformed into the band’s merchandise. Perhaps Black Eyed Pea will.i.am doesn’t think his previous foray into climate-and-music alone is enough to sway the Senate.
