Any questions?

New strategy for Senate's climate bill leaves out global warming
Global warming policy is no longer driving comprehensive climate legislation as it did last year with the House's Waxman-Markey bill. The new message, considered to resonate better with the public and be more agreeable among legislators, has this three-pronged goal: energy independence, job creation, and cleaner air.

I hope somebody reminds the public that the Clean Air Act has done a great job in cleaning up out emissions. CO2 is not something that needs cleaning up.

Furthermore, I fail to see how punitive measures will help anybody move to more expensive forms of energy. All it will do is redistribute wealth to the government and a few people, banks and traders.

Also, depressing the economy may not be the way to bring us out of a recession.

How about incentives and tax breaks, giving businesses and people the money to invest in energy saving technology?

I would love to put in solar heating and some solar power, but I cannot afford it. And I certainly will not be able to afford it in the future, if they make life in general more expensive.

Of course Congress and their aids will be immune from this crappy legislation as they are from health care.

If they really want "energy independence, job creation, and cleaner air." then nuclear power is the answer.

As they discovered ion Spain, renewably energy kills jobs because it makes electricity more expensive.

$500 bn+ has been squandered on wind, solar and marine power. If it had been spent on a crash program to implement modern, safe designs for large and small nuclear stations, the world wojud be better off from every point of view.
