Hundreds freeze to death in Peruvian Andes

LIMA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Freezing temperatures have claimed 190 lives in the Peruvian Andes provinces of Puno, Cuzco and Pasco since the beginning of 2010, statistics from the Ministry of Health show.

Of the death toll, 95 were old people and the other 95 were children under the age of 5, of whom 42 died of pneumonia.
