"You'd be surprise how many in the climate sciences do not believe this," Sussman said, explaining that many would rather remain inconspicuous than challenge what has become a widely accepted school of thought. "Nobody wants to address the science," he said. Sussman, however, is not afraid to tackle the science. "This book is bulletproof," he said. "There are 300 footnotes in this book. I will challenge anyone to go after the science of this book."

After going into the melt season with more ice over a larger area than recent years, sea ice extent plummeted by a daily rate of 26,000 square miles per day during May, which was the highest rate of loss ever observed for the month since satellite records of sea ice began in 1979 (edging out May, 1980).  [So why did it melt fast in May 1980?]
