Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that any attempt to include climate regulations within an energy bill, which he called a "national energy tax," would fail.

"They want to do something that has absolutely nothing to do with getting the leak stopped and getting the oil cleaned up," McConnell said during an appearance on Fox News. "I can pretty confidently tell you a bipartisan majority of the Senate are not going to buy that.”
