Bike Sharing Could Make Money Through Carbon Offsets
Simply put, the bike share programs would sell carbon offsets to companies looking to reduce their carbon footprints. This, in turn, would raise revenue. Meinzer estimates that this could bring in between $25 to $100 revenue per bike annually. Which would be about $1.2 million to $5 million for a program in a city like New York City.
