You are wrong to kick Al Gore on this one. Clearly an electrical engineering background doesn't prepare a person for thinking about complicated processes in Earth's atmopshere and oceans. Take a look at Prof. David Archer's work on the lifetime of carbon in Earth's atmosphere.
