Boxer: “What is the science telling us? That it is dangerous to breathe in air pollution with lots of carbon [dioxide] in it.”

S. 493: A Skeptical Review of Boxer’s Tirade
Boxer: “What is the science telling us? That it is dangerous to breathe in air pollution with lots of carbon in it.”
Got that? In the same breath that Boxer scolds her GOP colleagues for not heeding science, she demonstrates her ignorance of science. Carbon dioxide, like water vapor, the atmosphere’s main greenhouse gas, is an essential constituent of clean air.

I guess, technically, she's right. Carbon is a solid, so carbon in the atmosphere would be particular matter. So, yeah, breathing particulate matter is bad for you. That's why all those people dependant on fires for heat and cooking get so many respiratory illnesses. Illnesses that would be reduced if they had access to cheap reliable electricity.

Somehow, I don't think that's what she meant.

Well if you were breathing in 100% CO2 that would be bad. But the 0.03% of CO2 in the air is not.
