London mayor Boris Johnson announces green cash boost » Conveying News
Waste recycling plants in London are set to receive a significant funding boost from the city's mayor Boris Johnson.

Mr Johnson announced that £70 million has been set aside to help fund low-carbon waste and recycling facilities in the capital.

Waste recycling centres, biomass plants and energy-from-waste plants will be eligible for a cut of the cash, which will be distributed by the newly-formed Foresight Environmental Fund.

The mayor said that after London made such progress "cashing in" on carbon, it is vital that the city tries to stem its reliance on fossil fuels.

He continued: "The prize is not only better environmental stewardship and cash savings, but the injection of billions of pounds into the city's economy and tens of thousands of high quality jobs … and a better quality of life."
