I’ve said it before, and it bears repeating: how do we know the number and intensity measurements of storms aren’t due to reporting bias? 100 years ago, if when such a storm rolled in, did we have satellites, weather networks, and insta-launch web opinion to tell us it was connected to warming coming out of the little ice age? No. Were we even aware of such storms? Maybe – weeks or months later, if they got reported at all.

Pigs take the credits in carbon farming

Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change, Mark Dreyfus, says the first method allows pig farmers to be paid for reducing methane emissions from manure.

He says pig farmers can destroy the gas by flaring it and preventing it entering the atmosphere.

"Australia Pork Limited have advised me that a Carbon Farming Initiative project using this methodology would increase the return on each pig by $3.45," he said.
