Global Warming To Save The Planet? | Via Meadia

Greens need to shift their focus. Instead of maintaining — in a shrill and futile way — that concern over carbon emissions should become the number one priority of domestic and international policy everywhere, greens need to look for ways at integrating the kinds of energy policies they want with the priorities that other people have.  And by other people, I don’t mean investment bankers and politicians who want governments to create artificial markets (as in carbon emission permits) off which they can make billions of dollars in speculative profits. I also don’t mean large agribusiness interests who want to make out like bandits from the ethanol scam.

Gore and his buh-zillionaire friends are the kind of folks who populate shows like “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”. I’m sure they think of us as a bunch of gun totin’, Bible- thumpin’, moonshine swillin’, toothless inbred hillbillies who populate shows like the “Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.” In their world they see us as too stupid to grasp the urgency of action required in order to reverse global warming.

Well I’m willing to give them a shot. Never let it be said that we hillbillies don’t know how to be fair. And since I think asking them to control the whole world at once would be too big a task just to prove me wrong, to be fair I have a more manageable proposition.

I would like for them to merely control the weather over my farm for a few months.

The Telegraph reports:

A study in the Netherlands found that turning back-up gas power stations on and off to cover spells when there is little wind actually produces more carbon than a steady supply of energy from an efficient modern gas station.
