Energy Secretary Warns Families and Businesses to Expect Rising Electricity Bills - Yahoo! Finance

Under the sweeping changes, there will be a minimum price for carbon dioxide emissions and low-carbon generators like nuclear companies will receive a fixed price for their energy. The changes will affect the way the market is regulated and the way utilities will operate and consequently, proprietors can expect a nasty rise in their bills to pay for cleaner energy.

Mr Davey, the Energy and Climate Change Secretary, said: "We are extremely concerned about consumer bills. We can't turn back the tide because global gas prices are having upward pressures - we can't stop that. What we can do is try to insulate the UK economy. If we didn't make these changes, bills would be £200 higher."
