Overheated planet update, US edition: October so incredibly hot that only 74 of the last 118 Octobers were warmer

The average temperature in October 2012 was 53.9 F. This was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average, the 44th coolest October in 118 years. The temperature trend for the period of record (1895 to present) is 0.1 degrees Fahrenheit per decade

74 Octobers were warmer.
