Heavy snowfall at one of the most famous Turkish winter resorts, Mount Uludag, left many cars stranded in 20 cm (about 8 inches) of unexpected snow.
THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: New paper finds an accelerating increase of snow accumulation on Greenland
A paper published today in The Journal of Climate reconstructs snow accumulation of the Greenland ice sheet from 1600-2009 and finds "a 12% or 86 Gigaton/yr increase in ice sheet accumulation rate from the end of the Little Ice Age in ~1840 to the last decade of the reconstruction. This 1840-1996 trend is 30% higher than that of 1600-2009, suggesting an accelerating accumulation rate."
Dispatch from AGU: With Apologies to Mark Twain | Climate Abyss | a Chron.com blog
According to the survey, the less people see others adjusting their lives because of climate change, the more they assume everyone else is not concerned, either.

Meanwhile, concerned people generally had a personal excuse for not altering their own behavior.

Furthermore, the less action they saw other people taking, including something as simple as talking to friends about the issue, the less likely they were to do or say anything themselves, perhaps because they didn’t want to stand out in a crowd.

Mark Twain famously said, “Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it.” Well, nobody talks about the climate, and nobody does anything about it, either.
