Scientists mull Arctic’s slow CO2 loss
in 70 years of such annual thaw and freeze, up to 77% of the soil carbon could turn into carbon dioxide, with serious consequences for yet further global warming.

But, they report in Nature Climate Change, that does not seem to be happening at any of the sites under test: if the water content of the thawing soils remains high, then carbon decay is very slow, and the eventual release of this carbon could take hundreds of years.
New Jersey Herald: GOP legislators endorse Lonegan for Senate
Lonegan, the former Bogota mayor and state director of Americans for Prosperity, recently took aim at the controversial comments on global warming made by two of the Democratic Senate candidates, Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver and U.S. Rep. Rush Holt, at a July 17 candidate forum at the Hampton Diner. At that event, Oliver had said "I believe in Al Gore," while Holt called for immediate steps "to confront the deniers, whether it's by end-runs or head-on collisions."

"There's going to be a very clear difference in this campaign between me and Cory Booker and the other Democrats on this issue," Lonegan told the New Jersey Herald. "They (the Democrats) have a dogmatic commitment to driving up energy costs through massive subsidies to solar and wind, and what you're seeing is the rest of them all fighting over who can appeal most to their hard-core liberal base and move farthest to the left."
...
"The silly hysterical left-wing view that Congressman Holt expresses is simply bizarre," Lonegan said. "And I want to hear whether the other three Democrats share his extremist and over-the-top belief that millions will die if nothing is done."
Ken Cuccinelli Attacked By Climate Scientist As 'Anti-Science Zealot'
Renowned climate scientist Michael Mann has taken the unorthodox step of jumping into politics and campaigning with Virginia's Democratic gubernatorial candidate, worried that an "anti-science zealot" could win the election in November...He also said climate change is threatening the naval infrastructure in Norfolk, "a huge naval base that is right at sea level and stands to be displaced if we continue to warm the planet and the seas continue to rise."

Could it be Mann is "worried" that if Cuccinelli wins, he might have more powers to open his emails?

I am curious where Dr Mann thinks a huge naval base should be located.
