The majority of GCMs DO NOT model ENSO. Therefore, they fail to account for major ENSO-induced shifts in SST in the East Indian, West Pacific, and North Atlantic Oceans. And those GCMs that attempt to model ENSO do it poorly, missing many of the processes before, during, and after ENSO events.
