Sky News: Gore gives Rudd the thumbs up
The federal government's won the backing from climate change great Al Gore for its decision to push ahead to prepare for an early emissions trading system before global talks end in Copenhagen in December.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a drinks party for a Climate Campaign organized by the Conservative Energy & Climate Change team. The crowd was amiable enough - mostly pin-striped types with a leavening of tweedy country squires and the odd celeb, as one might expect. But the level of bullshit was off the scale. And I'm not principally talking about the politicians, though there wasn't much substance to their words. I am talking about the guests - the people the Tories are talking to and apparently listening to on energy and climate policy.
Christopher K. Brown  - FLASHPOINT: Cap and trade bill symbolizes the evil of tyranny
The other direction of money is to the federal government. The taxes and costs of mandating energy to move toward wind and solar would create a windfall for the federal government. And we have seen how this president likes taxes. Oh, and for those of you who think that only the rich will be taxed, think again. When your electric and heating bills double, remember that campaign promise of not taxing anyone making under $200,000. Jobs will be lost to China, people will be forced to sell their homes, businesses will shut down and the economy will be destroyed. Just look at what Spain is dealing with after a couple of years of their version of cap and trade.
