Gore blasts Sarah Palin and GOP for irrational denial of climate change
In response to the denial persistent within the country’s conservative movement, Gore stated,
"The global warming deniers persist in this era of unreality. After all, the entire North Polar ice cap which has been there for most of the last three million years is disappearing before our eyes, 40% is already gone, the rest is expected to go completely within the next decade ...what do they think is causing this?
[But Al, if the Arctic sea ice continues to grow by one California every three years, how long will it take to "disappear"?]
Arctic sea ice extent averaged over November 2009 was 10.26 million square kilometers (3.96 million square miles). This was 1.05 million square kilometers (405,000 square miles) below the 1979 to 2000 average for November, but 420,000 square kilometers (160,000 square miles) above the record low for the month, which occurred in November 2006.
