BBC News - Climate change: EU rebrands green energy campaign
One [of Hedegaard's] officials admitted that the UK was suffering from something of a media backlash against climate policies because previously there had been media "overkill" on climate. But in some other countries - particularly in southern and eastern Europe - climate was not widely discussed.

When asked whether at a time of recession countries should seek the cheapest forms of energy possible to stay competitive Ms Hedegaard replied that this would result in the EU missing its climate targets.
...
She admitted, though, to great uncertainty over the negotiations in the short term, with coming leadership changes in the US and China. Asked whether she was supporting President Barack Obama's re-election, on the grounds that his policy on climate change might be more amenable, she replied: "I'll work with whoever Americans decide to elect."
SXSW Eco: Searching for a New Environmentalism | Science and Space | TIME.com
I was fortunate enough to head down to Austin, Texas last week to attend the second annual SXSW Eco conference. It’s an offshoot of Austin’s fast metastasizing SXSW interactive, film and music conferences, and it proved a pleasant chance to hear from some of the smartest thinkers in energy and the environment. (Also, BBQ and hipster honkey-tonk.)  [Again, instead of taking an unnecessary fossil-fueled trip to Austin, shouldn't warmist Walsh have stayed home, used Skype, and maybe ate locally-grown lentils instead of planet-killing BBQ?]
The Carbon Sense Coalition » Feast or Famine
The biggest threat is political – the plan to use taxation, rationing and legislation to force farmers back to the days of the horse and buggy when 40% of farm produce was used to fuel horses. Only now they want the farms to produce all the ethanol and biofuel to fuel our much larger vehicle fleet. The continual closure and restrictions on land use by carbon credit forestry, vegetation clearing bans, ethanol production and other land restrictions is already reducing food supply.

The weather is indeed a threat to farmers and food supplies. But the threat is not global warming – ice, snow and cold weather are the main climate threats to farmers everywhere. Every past warm era has been a time of prosperity and growing population. The current generation of politicians and their bureaucracy has not studied science or history.
