August 17, 2013: Record Cool Atlanta Temperatures [by 8 degrees] | 11alive.com
Atlanta broke 2 records today thanks to the cool air. This morning, our low temperature was 61 degrees. The record low for today's date was 62 degrees set in 1948. That 61 degree morning low was 10 degrees below average.

We also broke a record this afternoon with our high temperature. But it wasn't because it was a warm record high. Today, we actually had our coolest high temp on record for today's date. We only topped off at 66 degrees today. The previous "record low max" for today's date was 74 degrees in 1935. We are 22 degrees below average! It should get up to 88 degrees on a normal August 17th!
